In every culture there are innovators and trailblazers, those who 
imagine and initiate a new genre.  In Lesbian Culture, that 
would be ALIX DOBKIN, whose career began as a passionate folk 
singer in the 1950s, influenced by folk, ethnic and Broadway 
musical traditions.  Alix's theme changed abruptly in the 70s 
when she fell in love with a woman and transformed her music 
and her performances.  In the true sense of the troubadour, 
she has crisscrossed this continent and indeed the globe,  
highlighting our culture and vitalizing by absorbing it in 
one community and passing it on to the next.

Once seated in an Alix Dobkin concert, there's an easy feeling of 
family, even for the first-timer.  Everyone finds themselves 
smiling, nodding in recognition, with plenty of laughter, 
maybe a heartache here and there, but always with pride in 
themselves sand the company they keep.  Alix is a legend, her 
message clear and memorable, heartfelt and bone-deep.  For 
over twenty years she's been bringing unapologetic Lesbianism 
into the lives of Lesbians and anyone else who wants to know
