Meet Radclyffe
She's a Shiba Inu. Shiba Inu, which means "Little Brushwood Dog" in Japanese, is one of the seven main Japanese dog breeds. Best known here in the United States is the Akita Inu, a bear-hunting and protection dog. Akitas and Shibas look very much alike, except for size and usually color. Shibas come in three accepted colors (Red, Red Sesame and Black), although cream Shibas do crop up in litters (just like long-haired Akitas show up now and then, too). The very first time I saw a Shiba Inu, I thought it was a tiny Akita! Shibas, like Akitas, have been used in Japan as hunting dogs, although the Shibas are generally used for somewhat smaller game!
